Privacy Policy
SimplePresent (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is built to need as little of your data as possible. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app does and does not collect, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using the app, you agree to this policy.
Information stored only on your device
The people you add and everything about them — names, relationships, interests, important dates, notes, and your gift history — are stored locally on your device only. This information is never uploaded to our servers, we cannot read it, and it is never included in analytics. Deleting the app removes this data from your device.
Information sent to generate gift ideas
When you ask for gift ideas, the app sends a minimal, de-identified request to our backend so it can generate suggestions with the help of an AI model. This request contains only the relationship type, interest tags, a budget range, the occasion type, any items you've chosen to exclude, and your device locale. The recipient's name and any free-text notes are never sent. These requests are used solely to return suggestions and are not used to identify you or to build a profile of you. The AI processing is performed by our backend and by our model provider (Google's Gemini API) acting on our behalf.
Anonymous device identifier
To prevent abuse and apply fair rate limits, requests include an anonymous identifier derived from your device's vendor ID, together with an anonymous Firebase authentication token. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or any personal account, and is not used for advertising. Reinstalling the app resets it.
Analytics and crash reporting
We use Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics) to understand how the app is used in aggregate and to diagnose crashes, solely to improve reliability and the experience. These events are anonymized and are not linked to your identity.
Attribution and measurement (AppsFlyer)
We use AppsFlyer, a mobile measurement and attribution provider, to understand how people discover SimplePresent (for example, which campaign or link led to an install) and to measure overall app performance. For this purpose, AppsFlyer may process technical and usage information such as device and event data and limited identifiers. We use this only to evaluate and improve our marketing and the app — not to show you ads inside the app. Where the platform (Apple's App Tracking Transparency) requires your permission to access tracking identifiers, we ask for it first, and you can decline. AppsFlyer's processing is also governed by AppsFlyer's own privacy policy (appsflyer.com).
Advertising and cross-app tracking
We do not display ads in the app, and we do not sell your personal information. Apart from the attribution measurement described above — and only with your permission where the platform requires it — we do not track you across other companies' apps and websites.
Amazon Associates
Tapping a gift idea opens an Amazon search page in your browser that includes our affiliate tag. Anything you do on Amazon — browsing, signing in, or purchasing — is governed by Amazon's own privacy policy, not ours. As an Amazon Associate, we may earn a commission from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you.
Data retention
On-device data stays on your device until you delete it or remove the app. De-identified idea requests and aggregated analytics and attribution data are retained only as long as needed for the purposes described above, and are then deleted or kept only in aggregate form.
Your choices
You can decline the App Tracking Transparency prompt, reset the anonymous identifier by reinstalling the app, and remove all on-device data by deleting the app. For any question or request about your data, contact us using the details below.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the latest version, and your continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
